Description
Jagannath Temple in Puri is one of the most sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Vishnu. It is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites and famous for the annual Rath Yatra festival.
History
The present temple was built in the 12th century by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. It is one of the oldest existing temples in India.
Architecture
The temple rises to a height of 65 meters with the Nilachakra (blue wheel) on top. Built in the Kalinga style, it has four distinct sections: Vimana, Jagamohan, Natamandira, and Bhogamandira.
Legends & Stories
The wooden idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra are believed to contain the divine essence of Lord Krishna. The Nabakalebara ceremony replaces the wooden idols periodically.
How to Reach
Nearest airport is Biju Patnaik Bhubaneswar (60 km). Puri has its own railway station. Well connected by road from Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.

தற்போதைய கோயில் 12ம் நூற்றாண்டில் கட்டப்பட்டது.

கோயில் 65 மீட்டர் உயரம் கொண்டது. கலிங்க பாணியில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.
