Description
Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site in Odisha, dedicated to the Sun God Surya. The temple is designed as a gigantic chariot with 24 elaborately carved stone wheels and drawn by 7 horses.
History
Built by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty around 1250 CE. The temple was called the Black Pagoda by European sailors. Much of the original structure has collapsed over centuries.
Architecture
The temple is shaped as a colossal chariot of the Sun God with 24 intricately carved wheels (each 3 meters in diameter). Seven horses pull the chariot. The walls are covered with elaborate sculptures depicting daily life, mythological narratives, and celestial beings.
Legends & Stories
Legend says Samba, son of Krishna, was cursed with leprosy. He worshipped the Sun God for 12 years at this site and was cured, after which he built this temple in gratitude.
How to Reach
Nearest airport is Biju Patnaik Bhubaneswar (65 km). Nearest railway station is Puri (35 km). Regular buses from Puri and Bhubaneswar.

पूर्वी गंग वंश के राजा नरसिंहदेव प्रथम द्वारा 1250 ईसवी के आसपास निर्मित।

मंदिर सूर्य देव के विशाल रथ के आकार में है जिसमें 24 नक्काशीदार पहिये हैं।

कथा है कि कृष्ण पुत्र साम्ब ने कुष्ठ रोग से मुक्ति के लिए यहाँ सूर्य की उपासना की।

கொணார்க் சூரிய கோயில் ஒடிசாவில் உள்ள 13ம் நூற்றாண்டு யுனெஸ்கோ உலக பாரம்பரிய தளமாகும். சூரிய தேவனுக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டது.
History
1250 இல் கிழக்கு கங்க வம்ச மன்னரால் கட்டப்பட்டது.
Architecture
கோயில் 24 சக்கரங்கள் கொண்ட சூரிய தேவனின் மாபெரும் தேர் வடிவில் உள்ளது.

கிருஷ்ணரின் மகன் சாம்பன் இங்கு சூரியனை வழிபட்டதாக கூறப்படுகிறது.
