Description
Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest structural stone temples in South India. Built facing the Bay of Bengal, it is a stunning example of Pallava architecture.
History
Built by Narasimhavarman II (Rajasimha) of the Pallava dynasty in the 8th century. It was part of a complex of seven temples, most of which have been submerged by the sea.
Architecture
The complex consists of three temples — two dedicated to Shiva and one to Vishnu. The five-storey pyramidal tower in Dravidian style faces east toward the sea. Intricate bas-relief carvings adorn the walls.
Legends & Stories
The temple is believed to be the last of seven temples built by the Pallavas along the coast. Six temples are said to have been swallowed by the sea, earning the site the name Seven Pagodas.

பல்லவ வம்ச மன்னர் நரசிம்மவர்மன் II ஆல் 8ம் நூற்றாண்டில் கட்டப்பட்டது.
Architecture
வளாகத்தில் மூன்று கோயில்கள் உள்ளன — இரண்டு சிவனுக்கும் ஒன்று விஷ்ணுவுக்கும்.

பல்லவர்கள் கடற்கரையில் கட்டிய ஏழு கோயில்களில் கடைசியாக இது நம்பப்படுகிறது.
