Description
Jwala Ji Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, famous for its nine eternal natural gas flames that burn without any fuel. Located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, it is dedicated to the Goddess of Light.
History
The temple has ancient origins. Emperor Akbar tried to extinguish the flames and offered a gold canopy, but the flames would not die. The rejected gold canopy turned to a base metal, which is still kept in the temple.
Architecture
The temple has a gilt dome and an ornate doorway. The sanctum has no idol — instead nine eternal flames emerge from rock fissures, each representing a different goddess.
Legends & Stories
It is believed that the tongue of Goddess Sati fell here, and the eternal flames represent her divine energy. The nine flames are named after Mahakali, Unpurna, Chandi, Hinglaj, Vindhyavasini, Mahalaxmi, Saraswati, Ambika, and Anji Devi.
How to Reach
Nearest airport is Gaggal Kangra (50 km). Nearest railway station is Jwalamukhi Road (17 km). Regular buses from Dharamshala and Kangra.

History
अकबर ने ज्वालाओं को बुझाने का प्रयास किया लेकिन विफल रहा। उसने स्वर्ण छत्र चढ़ाया जो तांबे में बदल गया।
Architecture
स्वर्ण गुंबद वाला मंदिर। गर्भगृह में कोई मूर्ति नहीं — नौ शाश्वत ज्वालाएँ।

सती की जिह्वा यहाँ गिरी थी। नौ ज्वालाएँ उनकी दिव्य ऊर्जा का प्रतीक हैं।

ஜ்வாலாஜி கோயில் 51 சக்தி பீடங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். எரிபொருள் இல்லாமல் எரியும் ஒன்பது நித்திய இயற்கை தீப்பிழம்புகளுக்கு புகழ்பெற்றது.

தங்க குவிமாடம். கருவறையில் சிலை இல்லை — ஒன்பது நித்திய தீப்பிழம்புகள்.
