Description
Vindhyavasini Temple is an important Shakti Peetha located in Vindhyachal, Uttar Pradesh. Dedicated to Goddess Vindhyavasini (a form of Durga), it sits on the Vindhya mountain range near the banks of the Ganges.

The temple has ancient origins with references in the Markandeya Purana. It has been a major Shakti worship center for centuries and is part of the sacred triangle with Kali Khoh and Ashtabhuja temples.

Legends & Stories
According to the Devi Mahatmya, when Lord Krishna was born, the baby girl who was exchanged with him flew to the sky and declared she was Vindhyavasini, protector of the Vindhya mountains.
