Description
Kamakhya Temple is one of the oldest and most important Shakti Peethas, situated atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam. It is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, a form of Shakti, and is the center of Tantric worship.
History
The temple dates back to the 8th century with major reconstruction in the 17th century by Koch king Nara Narayana. It is mentioned in several ancient texts including the Kalika Purana.
Architecture
The temple features a distinctive beehive-shaped dome (shikhara) characteristic of Nilachal architecture. The sanctum contains no idol but a natural rock fissure representing the goddess.
Legends & Stories
When Sati immolated herself, Lord Shiva carried her body. Lord Vishnu cut it with his Sudarshana Chakra. The yoni (creative power) of Sati is believed to have fallen here.

मंदिर 8वीं शताब्दी का है। 17वीं शताब्दी में कोच राजा नर नारायण द्वारा प्रमुख पुनर्निर्माण।

मंदिर में मधुमक्खी के छत्ते के आकार का विशिष्ट गुंबद है।

जब सती ने आत्मदाह किया तो शिव ने उनके शरीर को उठा लिया। सती की योनि यहाँ गिरी थी।

கோயில் 8ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்தது.

கோயிலில் தேன்கூடு வடிவ சிறப்பு குவிமாடம் உள்ளது.

சதி தன்னையே எரித்துக்கொண்டபோது சிவன் அவள் உடலைச் சுமந்தார். சதியின் யோனி இங்கு விழுந்ததாக நம்பப்படுகிறது.
