Description
Omkareshwar Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas located on Mandhata island in the Narmada river, Madhya Pradesh. The island itself is shaped like the Hindu sacred symbol Om when viewed from above.
History
The temple has ancient origins mentioned in several Puranas. Two Jyotirlingas are worshipped here — Omkareshwar and Amareshwar (Mamleshwar) across the river. The area has been a center of spiritual practice for millennia.
Architecture
The temple is built in Nagara style with a majestic shikhara. The main shrine is on the island accessible by a bridge. Mamleshwar temple on the south bank is considered the twin Jyotirlinga.
Legends & Stories
According to the Shiva Purana, the Devas and Danavas once worshipped a Parthiva Lingam here. Pleased by their devotion, Lord Shiva appeared in two forms — Omkareshwar for the Devas and Amareshwar for the Danavas.

Nearest airport is Indore (77 km). Nearest railway station is Omkareshwar Road (12 km). Regular buses from Indore and Khandwa.

ओंकारेश्वर मंदिर बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है, नर्मदा नदी में मांधाता द्वीप पर स्थित। द्वीप का आकार ऊपर से ॐ जैसा दिखता है।
History
कई पुराणों में उल्लिखित। यहाँ दो ज्योतिर्लिंग — ओंकारेश्वर और अमरेश्वर (ममलेश्वर) पूजे जाते हैं।

नागर शैली में निर्मित भव्य शिखर वाला मंदिर। पुल द्वारा द्वीप पर पहुँच।

शिव पुराण के अनुसार देवों और दानवों ने यहाँ पार्थिव लिंग की पूजा की। शिव दो रूपों में प्रकट हुए।
