Description
Baidyanath Temple (Vaidyanath Dham) in Deoghar, Jharkhand, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and also one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is known as Baidyanath Dham — the abode of the Divine Doctor.
History
The temple is of ancient origin mentioned in several Puranas. The annual Shravani Mela draws millions of Kanwariyas who carry holy water from Sultanganj to offer here.
Architecture
The main temple complex contains 22 temples. The central temple has a tall shikhara and houses the Jyotirlinga. The complex is enclosed by a stone wall.
Legends & Stories
Ravana worshipped Shiva here to gain invincibility. Shiva, pleased by his devotion, healed Ravana's wounds and thus became known as Vaidyanath (Lord of Physicians).
How to Reach
Nearest airport is Ranchi (280 km) or Patna (281 km). Deoghar has its own railway station. Regular buses from Kolkata, Patna and Ranchi.

रावण ने अजेयता प्राप्त करने के लिए यहाँ शिव की पूजा की। शिव ने उसके घावों को ठीक किया और वैद्यनाथ कहलाए।

பண்டைய கோயில். ஆண்டுதோறும் சிராவணி மேளா நடைபெறுகிறது.

இராவணன் இங்கு சிவபெருமானை வழிபட்டான். சிவன் அவனது காயங்களை குணப்படுத்தி வைத்யநாதர் எனப்பட்டார்.
